    2. That's alright. The waitress can find a better job. The pastor had to swallow her pride and make a statement, apologizing

  3. Confirms my suspicion that most "Good Christians" can be bigger jerks and cheapskates than the average Joe. Reminds me of the Bible College students who would came into the department store I worked in to buy a dress for the big dance, then returned the same dress with sweat stains two days later. Niiiice!

The sad thing here is the pastor that left that note, was NOT a good christian! Good Christians would have paid the tip plus more! The Bible warns us of people like these. I'm sorry that this happened. :-( Christ WOULD NOT have done this!!!!!

  4. Last one was fine by me, in England you don't get a tip unless you did something exceptional because waitresses get paid properly and dont have to rely on tips to subsidise their poor wages. Tips are a bonus for going above and beyond for a customer, America needs to learn a lesson.

    1. Same here in Belgium. You only give a tip when the service is great. And as a women no one expects a tip from you! In the US they even expect a 1$ tip on a 2$ drink :(

    2. That's brilliant. America, can we start doing this? Ah, who cares. I'm seriously considering moving to England anyway! The people there might understand my BBC obsession!

    3. Depending where you work you can make alot of money off tips. More than any way a restaurant would pay. I know people making over 200 a night in tips. again depends on restaurant.

    4. It would be fine if the waitresses were already paid a reasonable wage (Which I think they should do, but greedy bosses will just cry about how they couldn't afford it probably), but they are not. So when someone doesn't tip you and gives a poor a$$ excuse? It's a jerk move and deserves to be called out.

    5. fine and dandy except waitresses here in america make 2-3 dollars an hour. not even 25% of what minimum wage is.

  5. Difference is: in the US, servers get paid about $3 an hour, well below a livable or minimum wage. They rely on tips to survive.

    1. actually, if you think about it. He's a pastor. He doesn't give 10%. The people who give 10% of the money goes to paying him.

  7. Tipping is for good service. I am not their employer so I am not responsible to automatically pay their wages. If you don't get paid enough then improve your education and job skills. His comment on the receipt was based on his beliefs. At least he has integrity to stand on his principles as opposed to being a sheep and being forced to pay a tip without regard to service performance.

    1. If my server doesn't deserve 15%, she/he doesn't get it. It's not a matter of affording it, it's a matter of deserving it.

  8. the 10% they give to God is the tithes they pay to the church....10% of income.

    1. 10% to an entity who doesn't pay taxes, as churches are tax exempt... and the customer was a clergy of some sort... she "payed" 10% to herself... yeah, ok...

  9. My idea when I read about servers and the tip issue is a couple things. one, you chose that job knowing the compensation. Two,the word tips is an acronym for "to insure prompt service" tips are not your automatic right you have to earn them. I usually tip 20% for decent service. In short, If tips are what you count on for your livelihood, Put forth the effort to get them or find a diffrent line of work. As far as the "pastor" God will deal with that

  11. If you eat out (restaurants lmao) or go out to drink you go there knowing that tipping is the norm. If you can't afford it, don't go there! Dining out is not necessary.... only do it if you can afford it! :) If you're from a different country or w/e you are not exempt sillys. I wouldn't go to a country and expect to be above their standards or practices.
