      Sagan was NOT referring to Hiroshima. That was in 1945. The Apollo moon landing was in 1969, over 20 years later. Also, Sagan mentions "conventional explosives" - NOT nuclear explosives.

      Sagan is referencing the Vietnam war (1955-1975).

      Sheesh. If you're going to try sarcasm, at least get your facts straight.

    5. Clearly you don't know how to decipher context or have never heard of the saying "You can't make this stuff up!" The commenter wasn't implying that these things actually were made up; it was a reference to how truth can be stranger than fiction.
